Tritonal Interview
Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed of Tritonal have had a successful year with productions such as Essence of Kea”, “Forgive Me, Forget You”, “Piercing Quiet” and “Cloudbase”. These humble artists have ventured into the trance realm and completely taken it by storm. AscenDance Radio had a chance to cover Tritonal’s performance at the Ultra Music Festival of 2010 and to our surprise Chad & Dave’s enormous enthusiasm and energy filled set left a really big impression on not only us, but also those around them.
Since their teaming up in 2007, these individuals have over 75 productions under their belt of which some were the top tracks of 2008 & 2009. But Tritonal did not stop there, fueled by their love of the trance music genre, Chad and Dave proceeded to create Air Up There Recordings, a record label that was launched for the sole purpose of bringing in new talents to spread the same enthusiasm and love for the music that they themselves display.

This duo has been have made deals with dance music label leaders such as Anjunabeats, Armada, Blackhole, Coldharbour, and so many more. And as they continue to move their audiences with their inspiring music, they simultaneously raise the standards of dance releases. We had a chance to interview Chad & Dave and here is what they had to say:

Dayanna Guerrero: First of all, we just wanted to congratulate you on all of your success. You guys are by far one of the most talented duos we have had the pleasure to come across and your music is truly captivating.

So it’s been said that you guys complete each other’s musical sentences. What would you say about the overall dynamic between you both is like?

Chad Cisneros: The dynamic between Dave and I is very fun.  There is an amazing synergy that happens when we are in the studio together which is, in my opinion, the glue that holds the bond together.  Outside of the studio, we try to keep things fun and light – life is short!

Dayanna Guerrero: What is the overall process like in the studio and about how long does it take you to come out with those wonderfully put together productions?

Dave Reed: Well our workflow sometimes can differ depending what we’re getting into production wise. Usually, we’ll decide together where we want to take the track, which sometimes, through experimentation with melodies, basslines, and percussion, can nearly take us a week! In the studio, Chad is great at setting up an initial storyline for the track and I love to working and developing the melodic progressions! We really like to take our time and carefully craft our work.

Dayanna Guerrero: You have been featured in compilations such as Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats Vol. 6 and Armin van Buurens A State of Trance what would you say is the most prized of all of your accomplishments?

Chad Cisneros: After a year’s worth of work and literally thousands of hours in the studio, we have FINALLY finished our debut artist album!!  It is just being finished this week in fact, and we are just thrilled with it.  It is by far our biggest achievement and we produced around twenty tracks in all; fifteen of those have made the final cut, and we can’t wait to begin releasing the singles!!

Dayanna Guerrero: Would you say there was any particular moment that you looked out into the crowd and said to yourselves this is unreal or does that still happen every time you perform?

Dave Reed: Haha! This happens to us a lot and I can’t begin to describe how that feels! Years ago I thought it was just a pipe dream and now, seeing how far both Chad and I have come is just incredible. Every time we perform we’re always grateful and love to see people out there enjoying the music we love.

Dayanna Guerrero: I read somewhere that your main goal is to inspire those around you. How do you manage to keep doing that in your tracks?

Chad Cisneros: Our main goal, when producing tracks, is to create a piece that touches our audience. Creating a track that makes a person want to hit repeat has always been our milestone and achieving that in a way that works well on both the radio and in a club or massive festival is quite a feat.

Dayanna Guerrero: You both seem to pour your hearts out in every gig you do. How do you manage to bring in so much energy to every show?

Dave Reed: Well, Chad and I like to keep healthy and stay active when we’re not performing. So when we do perform, it’s like a workout to us. We feel that keeping the energy high on stage and interacting with the crowd makes a great night for us and others.

Dayanna Guerrero: You’ve started a record label called “Air Up There Recordings. Can you tell us a little more about what inspired this and what the purpose of this new record label is for?

Chad CisnerosAir Up There Recordings was launched for a couple of reasons.  First and foremost, it gives Dave and I a platform from which to speak.  We can release what we want, when we want and how we want. Secondly, we want to build up a team of people who love music the way we do, and have the talent to express that properly.   Big records that light up a dance floor and send you into euphoria is the motive and we have some mighty big ones already in store!!

Dayanna Guerrero: You also have a mix show called “Air Up There“, could you tell people who haven’t heard it yet what it is about?

Dave Reed: Air Up There is essentially a well thought-out, two-hour adventure in all of today’s best trance music that we feel, takes your mood skyward. Of course, we think it’s a great show and to anyone who hasn’t heard it yet, would really enjoy it! Haha, as we always love saying – come take a breath of the Air Up There!

Dayanna Guerrero: You guys seem to be constantly traveling around the world and have shared the stage with Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz and so many more amazing artists what has it been like getting to perform with them?

Chad Cisneros: The guys you mentioned are amazing!!  We take influence from each one of them in their own unique way.  That said, we feel we have our own unique persona and energy on stage.   It was truly a blast and milestone to share the stage with many of those guys, nights we will never forget.

Dayanna Guerrero: With all that traveling do you get any down time and if so, what would you say is your favorite thing to do aside from making amazing music?

Dave Reed: Down time indeed! It is great to have a good moment to step away and let the mind rest. Usually after a good few weeks of producing and touring, Chad will spend some time with his wife, Carol, and I usually may take in a new movie that is out, play my Xbox or spend some time with a few friends.

Dayanna Guerrero: There’s been a lot of hype surrounding your upcoming album. How far along are you and when do you think it will be released?

Chad Cisneros : Well, as mentioned before – we just finished!!    Be looking out for teasers and previews in the coming weeks and months!

Dayanna Guerrero: What can your fans looks forward to seeing from you in the future?

Dave Reed: Oh lots of surprises, I say – haha! To name a few, soon we’ll be moving forward with our new website, developing more into our Tritonal TV channel as well as having more Tritonal shirts available.  Fans can expect a big 2011-2012 from us!

Dayanna Guerrero: Well it was a pleasure getting to chat with you! Thank you so much. We wish you lots of success and look forward to seeing more from you in the future.

Tritonal: You too! Thank you!
